I've long admired plein air paintings for their feeling of freshness and lack of pretense. There is a sense of immediacy to them...you feel the weather's influence on color, shape, texture and light in a way I've not found possible in a studio. And now...finally....that I'm packing up my gear and heading outside, I'm falling in love with it. Come with me.....

St. Simons Island

this Collection . . .
I fell in love with St. Simon's Island the first moment I arrived. Its landscapes are simple, yet as changeable as the weather. No marsh vista looks the same two days in a row; high tide, low tide, clouds or sun, it is always different. I first went there to help a good friend teach her painting workshop, and by the end of the week I'd ended up being represented by a wonderful gallery there. I return to the Island as often as possible to paint and sketch and photograph.
